Background
| The
Republic of Croatia is one of the richest countries in thermal
and mineral springs in the world and abounds in Spas and Health
resorts. The traditions of bathing at thermal springs and
applying mud to the body go back to ancient times, when Romans
built thermal (hot baths) in Croatia. Many Croatians young
and old regularly take advantage of the country's numerous
spas and medicinal mud baths, which are used to treat both
sore muscles and medical ailments. |

Health
tourism will be a complement to the traditional tourist
industry with an optimal experience in a historic, geographic
and extremely picturesque environment. The enterprise, as
it is for the moment, is based on the fact that Croatia is
not yet a member of the EU. Croatia's admittance to the union
is scheduled between 2007-2009. This means that the price
level for the time being is well below the much higher European
level and will be at least another 5 years. |
There
are a large number of health spas sited on thermal and mineral
springs.
Around Zagreb there is Tuheljske Toplice, Krapinske Toplice,
Stubicke Toplice, Varaždinske Toplice, Ivanic Grad (Naftalan)
and Topusko. In Slavonia there is Daruvar, Lipik and Bizovac.
On the coast there is Vela Luka, Šibenik, Duga Uvala and the
Istrian spa, Istarske Toplice. There is also thalassotherapy
in Opatija, Crikvenica, Veli Lošinj, Korcula and Makarska.

Toplice 
Special hospital for medical rehabilitation situated under
the northern slopes of the Medvednica, in a gentle valley
of the Hrvatsko Zagorje. They have mild climate and opulent

Toplice
Topusko 
A spa at an altitude of 196 m, 67 km south of Zagreb, on
the central course of the River Glina, between Petrova gora
in the west and Zrinska gora in the east. The water is hyperthermal
and mildly radioactive, temperature to 72°C, and the
spring flows at over 200 litres per second.
